Description
Government Reference and International Publications of the Center For World Indigenous Studies :

Excerpt
Excerpt: The Indians of Nicaragua, after more than seven years of war, have entered into promising peace talks with the Sandinista government. These talks are completely separate from the contra peace talks. The negotiators from the Yatama Indian organization, led by Miskito leader Brooklyn Rivera, already have achieved an accord spelling out some basic Indian rights and establishing a truce during the pendency of the talks. A full ceasefire, autonomous self government for the Indian region, and other issues will be addressed as the talks continue.
